KANKAKEE BOWLING ASSOCIATION

Richard (Dick) LaMotte

Hall Of Fame Induction – April 29, 2007

Dick LaMotte was a league member beginning in 1949 when his father, Bob LaMotte and Paul Thyfault built Red Cedar Lanes.

Dick has always been a promoter of league and tournament bowling, especially in Kankakee and Momence. Every year he has pushed the KBA Tournament by going to his league bowlers and making them aware of tournament dates, events and deadlines.

Dick had been secretary of the Tuesday Night Men’s League for about 30 years. He was a throwback secretary who would actually go out and look for teams instead of waiting for someone to call him with a team or extra bowlers. He took pride in knowing his league was full and ready to start the season.

Dick also was a member of this KBA board since 1975 and active till his failing health slowed him down. He was always ready to do his part to help grow our sport in the community.

Dick also participated in around 20 ABC National Tournaments and was the captain of two teams for many of those years.

After 50 plus years of bowling and service to our bowlers, it is only fitting that we recognize his efforts today and welcome him to the Kankakee Bowling Association Hall of Fame in 2007 in the meritorious category.

Congratulations to Richard LaMotte.
